And suddenly, it’s June
Wow.
My last post was in February! My Immersion course kit arrived and I was beyond excited to start learning about surface pattern design.
And I jumped in with both feet. I learned what I needed to learn about Adobe Illustrator. I proudly kept up with the lessons as they were released and I graduated when the live and on-going courses finished in May.
Yes…May. I have been done with this course for over a month and I have not even cracked open this website to post a single thing about it. I haven’t updated my Portfolio. I haven’t added a single item to any of my POD shops. And the only time I even remember I have an Etsy shop is when I get that notification that ‘.60 has been paid for listing renewal fees’.
Even now, with this blog post, I am still not considering any of the things I should be considering when trying to Google to notice me. Will I ever get to the point where I can really call this website part of my business? I really hope so. But for now, it’s a place holder.
I do have big plans. I have actually NOT abandoned that dream of getting a card design selling at Trader Joe’s. My dream of designing patterns that will someday appear on gift wrap and bags, pillows and maybe some of those quirky handwritten signs at Target or Home Goods is still a go.
But there’s a gap.
That gap between knowing what I want and getting there. A gap I actually do know how to fill, but am slow to do it. Slow…not neglecting. There are steps being taken over here.
And so this is just a little update post, for those who are curious. Those of you who read and are already subscribed to the newsletter…yeah, I’ve been pretty bad about that too. It’s on the list ;) But as I attempt to nudge my way into the logistical nightmare of being more professional here, just know I am doing my best to stay real. And this is me being real: I have a creative side trying to get out but it needs the help of my business side because it’s hard to be seen in that big world!
